I am self employed and my income is less, what government help can I get?

If you’re getting less income because of Coronavirus (COVID-19), you might be able to claim a grant through the Coronavirus Self-employment Income Support Scheme. Apart from this, you may also be eligible for Universal Credit and Employment and Support Allowance.

If you have a business that needs a quick cash injection to stay afloat, you can apply for a Coronavirus bounce back loan – This funding is designed for small businesses to access money quickly during the Corona pandemic. You can borrow between £2000 – £50,000 at 0% interest and no fees for the first 12 months, and 2.5% interest afterwards.

I was made redundant due to Corona, what am I entitled to?

If you have been made redundant due to Coronavirus you won’t be eligible for statutory guarantee pay. But, you may be entitled to jobseeker allowance. This can help you bridge the gap until you find a new job. You may also need to make arrangements with your landlord, mortgage company etc. about managing your payments.

I was put on unpaid leave, what are my rights?

If your employer has put you on furlough, you will be entitled to 80% pay through the Coronavirus job retention scheme. But, you will have to arrange with your employer that he keeps you on the payroll.
